I’ve been going to the gym for 6 months now, and I’ve been going to the gym for 6 months now, and this isn’t your typical “I’m back in the gym” post.

Because for the first time, I didn’t return with the goal of making myself smaller or punishing myself for something I ate. I went back with the intention of doing something for 60-, 70-, and hopefully 80-year-old me.

I’ve been big. I’ve been small. But one thing that’s stayed the same through every version of my body is that I’ve always been strong.

Somewhere along the way, between raising kids, starting a business, and surviving a truly horrific diet in 2016 (DM me, seriously), I lost that strength. I wasn’t feeling connected to my body. And as someone who wants to encourage others to love themselves as they are, I struggled with how going back to the gym fit into that message.

Would I nitpick my body? Would I secretly wish to be smaller again? Would I punish myself with workouts when I didn’t “eat well”?

So I made myself four promises:
1. I wouldn’t weigh myself—at all.
2. I’d start with 2 days a week and only increase if it brought me joy.
3. I’d focus on how I felt after a workout, not how hard I could push during.
4. I’d treat movement as a gift to my joints, not punishment for imperfection.

Six months later, I can finish a full spin class without a break. I’ve discovered I love hot Pilates. Barre class feels like therapy. I like lifting heavy weights. And while I still hate pushing that damn sled across the floor, I feel like a total badass when it’s over.

I’m taking this in 4-week increments so I don’t overcommit or burn out. Sometimes I make it 5 days a week. Sometimes 3. Sometimes it’s a Pilates class on my phone. Sometimes I get to the gym. And that’s enough.

Because your relationship with your body? It’s not something you just “figure out” one day. It’s ongoing. It requires grace. It requires intention. And I’m still figuring it out, too.
You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re just t You’re not doing anything wrong.
You’re just trying to sound like everyone else when your actual power is sounding like you.

I just received my second W.A.T.C.H. pin for Habit I just received my second W.A.T.C.H. pin for Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build! 🏠✨

This incredible group of women supports Habitat’s mission by giving funds that directly help build homes for families each fall. Over the past four years, my involvement with Habitat has shown me just how big of an issue housing is in our community. Through Habitat, families don’t just get a place to live, they become homeowners, often the very first in their family.

Being part of that journey is humbling and inspiring. 💙

If you’d like to learn more about W.A.T.C.H. or Women Build, send me a message, I’d love to share how you can get involved!

Pinterest isn’t social media; it’s a search engine. And it rewards early planning in a big way.

Here’s what you can do now:

You don’t have to go full pumpkin spice in your feed just yet, but your Pinterest game? It should already be in Halloween mode.
