The new year always feels like a fresh start, full of possibility and promise. I love the sense of a clean slate and the chance to shape the year into whatever I want it to be. On January 1st, it feels like everything is in your hands.
As I sat down to write my goals for 2025, one theme kept coming back to me: filling my creative cup. Despite all the creative things I do, there are moments when I feel the urge to create purely for myself but can’t seem to find the time. There’s a part of me longing to create without limits, goals, or expectations—simply for the joy of it. A hobby. The challenge, as I’m sure many of you can relate to, is balancing family, running a business, managing a blog, and the endless list of to-dos. Finding time for creativity feels impossible some days.
This year, I decided to start a new tradition: creating a mood board for each month. It’s a simple way to express myself creatively while also serving as a source of inspiration and direction for my month ahead. I draw so much of my creativity from the work of others, and this feels like a meaningful way to channel that into something personal. Plus, it’s a small way to fill that creative void I sometimes feel—creating just for fun.
Of course, I couldn’t resist turning it into a blog post (because, me). But my hope for this evolving project is twofold:
- That you’ll find some inspiration and joy in the images I share each month.
- That you’ll carve out a little space in your own life for something that might seem trivial but fills your heart in a way that matters.
Here’s to a year of making space for the things that light us up! Here we go…
January

January often feels like a mix of purpose and a touch of bleakness for me. It’s the grayest month here in Louisiana, which has me chasing those little bursts of joy (check out my post on Dopamine Dressing for more on that). For this mood board, I wanted to create something that feels vibrant, fun, and full of excitement while also offering a dash of inspiration.
This month, I have several celebrations to look forward to, so I wanted the board to reflect that festive energy. At the same time, January is when I find myself craving rest and relaxation. I wanted this board to also serve as a gentle reminder that it’s okay to slow down when I need to. Life doesn’t have to be all hustle, all the time.
February

January was the longest month of the year like always. So many things happened both good and bad but the bad has been weighing heavily on me. I am always drawn to bold and bright colors and things that make me happy and this month I leaned into red especially. With Valentines Day quickly approaching it felt right.
This month I am looking forward to a fun photo shoot, galentines with my friends and of course Mardi Gras parades!
Also, can we discuss the fact that Instagram changed their grid orientation between last month and this month?
