I love when I know future me is going to be thankful for something I’m doing in the moment. If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I love to leave notes for myself in my calendar for the next year. For instance, I note where we ate on vacation or an appointment I missed as a reminder for the next year. Today, I’m sharing my Christmas in July secrets—three things I do to make my life easier during the holidays.
Gift Cards
This is something I start shopping for early. I know I’ll need gift cards for teachers and other gifts each holiday season, so I try to get ahead by buying a few each time I’m at a store like Walmart or Target. This year, I’m creating a gift card passport for my kids’ stockings. I’m stockpiling gift cards now so I can check this off my list come December.
Inventory
Every holiday season, I plan to go through my decorations, check the lights, and replace anything that’s broken before putting everything away. However, I often skip this task because I’m ready to be done with the decor. This year, I’m pulling all my lights out in August to see what needs replacing and what can stay. I’m saving this information in a list on my phone so I’m ready when the Christmas lights hit the shelves.
Christmas Card List
Want to know exactly how many Christmas cards you need this year? Start working on your list now. Update any addresses that have changed. I always wait until the last minute, then find myself frantically asking people for their new addresses in December. Your December self will thank you for doing this ahead of time—I promise!
By tackling these tasks now, I’m setting myself up for a smoother, less stressful holiday season. Future me will be so grateful for the gift cards already purchased, the lights ready to go, and the Christmas card list up to date. Planning ahead not only saves time but also makes the holiday season more enjoyable and less frantic. Try these tips, and you’ll thank yourself later too!
XO,
Tiffany King
