Let’s talk about January, and why it’s the perfect Let’s talk about January, and why it’s the perfect time to tweak your skin.

Cold weather, less sun, and fewer outdoor plans make January ideal for treatments that require downtime and sun avoidance. If you’ve been thinking about introducing retinol, doing laser treatments, or booking a chemical peel, this is your window.

The biggest hurdle with treatments like IPL, Morpheus8, and peels isn’t the treatment itself... it’s protecting your skin while it heals. Post-Christmas and pre-summer gives your skin the time it actually needs to recover, reset, and show results.

What I’m doing this January 👇
• IPL for sun spots and veins on my cheeks and chin
• My third round of Morpheus8 on my neck and marionette lines
• A VI Peel to finish out the month strong

I planned to start a retinol this month, but since I stacked treatments, I’m easing in slowly starting with my chest and the backs of my hands (more on that later).

January skin care isn’t about drastic changes. It’s about smart timing, intention, and setting your skin up for the rest of the year.

If “a little refresh” has been on your wishlist, now really is the time. 💆‍♀️✨

Capsule Wardrobes 101 – Essentials

This is episode 2 of out Capsule Wardrobe 101 Series… Capsule Wardrobe Essentials.

Catch up on January’s post Capsule Wardrobes 101 – How To Get Started

Houses built with a good foundation will last for decades. It is the same concept for your wardrobe. Build a good base and it will service your needs for a long time to come.

So what are essentials? Basics are going to be your underwear, bras, shapewear, hosiery and camisoles. Outside of those I also consider t-shirt dresses, T-shirts, tanks, cardigans as essentials also. To me an essential is any piece that you can build off of so for this post I am going to include traditional essentials and my extended list.

Capsule Wardrobe Traditional Essentials

Underwear

The underwear you choose might just be the most important layer of our outfit and it is genuinely the cheapest piece of clothing we put on. Your underwear are going to set the whole foundation for your outfit. They should fit comfortably and correctly (not too big or too small).

I am a fan of the Amazon Essentials line for just about everything they offer. I am currently loving their underwear too.

Bras

Bras are an entire post in themselves. We did a fitting with The Bra Genie last year and it was great to be properly fitted for a bra. I encourage you to go to a shop that does professional fittings and have them do it for you.

Body Suit

Something I added to my essentials this year was a body suit. I have found lots of ways to wear it. It is a great option under something thin or when you want to hold in your lower tummy area. I also love it for when I don’t want to wear a bra but need a little support.

My current favorite is from Yummie. It is cool and comfortable. I prefer the full back but it does also come in a thong.

Cami

I like to have a few cami’s in addition to my tank tops. The sole purpose for my cami collection is going to be layering under thin tops, itchy sweaters and when it’s so cold I need an additional layer. I like the Amazon Essentials cami 4 pack. It is easy to get all of the colors you need in one pack.

Hoisery

I should probably have labeled this hoisary and socks but the truth is I hate socks so much and I almost never wear them. However I do wear tights and the one and only place I buy my tights is HUE.

I have tried other brands and I am almost always dissappointed in the fit or the longevity I get out of the tights. HUE always has fun tights and I love the colors they come in plus they are available in extended sizes.

Additional Essentials

Tiffany in a black Amazon Essentials Midi Dress - Capsule Wardrobe Essentials

For the remainder of this post I am going to be highlighting Amazon Essentials pieces. I have tried so many white tees and other jersey knits and I can’t find anything that compares for the price. The thing that sold me on their line were the white tees. They are slightly longer than some tees I have tried before and they are not see through.

I outlined several of my favorites from t-shirt dresses, joggers, cardigans, tanks, jumpsuits and a few bonus items. Any and all of these would work in your capsule as basics. They are all great for layering.

Remember that your overall goal is to buy only what you need for your capsule. Make sure that the items you purchase are must haves and that they work within your color scheme. Just because something is a good price doesn’t mean that you need it.

XO,

Tiffany
