Two or three years ago my uber stylish friend Tracy, owner of Virtue Jewelry, got a cape and I became obsessed with them. I have always wanted to have an extensive coat collection like people up north. My favorite scene from The Devil Wears Prada is when Andi is trying on all of the outfits and there is a coat with each of them. Where I live in the south there is just no real need for a coat collection so I have started gravitating toward capes.
Capes can really be a statement piece which is what makes them work for evening events or holiday parties. There is something about them that is just attention grabbing. I love finding one with gold buttons or a bow just to add a little additional element to the look.
Although, it mat seem like capes need to be worn when you are dressed up, they also pair well with jeans, joggers and other casual looks. I wear my capes more than I wear any other outwear piece in my closet. They are easier to throw on and off and I don’t have to worry about them making me overheated when I am in the car.
If you make the investment you will find a way to wear it. You can find pretty capes for splurge and save price points. I am featuring a few of each…

My goal in my posts and with this blog is just to get you thinking about trying something new. You don’t have to embrace each and every item that I write about but just think about doing something new and a little out of your comfort zone each year will keep your style fresh.

Tiffany
