The Children’s Museum of St. Tammany Celebration Gala is one of my favorite events in the area. They always have amazing décor and the desserts are to die for. It’s the event of the spring.
This years gala was held at the new CMST facility on Koop Drive in Mandeville. This allowed all attendees to see what their money had been going toward and what the children in our area are experiencing when they attend. It also allowed everyone to get a glimpse of what is to come.
But before we talk about the gala let’s talk about what I wore or was going to wear…
When I received my save the date I heard through the grapevine that the theme was going to be garden party chic or spring related. I knew immediately that I wanted to wear something floral. Well the second thing I had to figure out was footwear. Celebration is usually a fancy event and I didn’t even know where to start with finding a flat shoe that would work with a fancy dress. Remember this years event was being held outside so this really posed an interesting issue for me.
The dress I was supposed to wear was from TJ Maxx online and the shoes… well the shoes just happened to be in my closet already. The issue became that this event was supposed to be in April and because of weather had been rescheduled to June. Well June is a mystery in south Louisiana and it can be hot or it can be boiling and currently it is boiling here so I had to think of something else to wear.
But these dreamy shots had to be put up on the blog… because Melissa Breedlove Photography really out did themselves with these!
So let’s talk a little bit about the event…
The night was hot but so beautiful. The committee did everything they could to make the evening as magical as possible and the guests comfortable in the heat. Including a trolley that picked you up from the parking lot and brought you to the front entrance.
The first thing that caught my eye was all of the beautiful balloon art that was decorating the front of the museum and all of the tents.
The inside of the museum was set up with all of the auction items that were also available online. This was a new and much needed addition to the event especially since it had to be rescheduled. If anyone couldn’t attend they were still able to participate in the auction online.
Celebration is all about the food. Vendors from places like Nan’s Café, Copelands, KGee’s and Cart De Jour brought some of the most delectable bites from pork fried eggrolls to chipotle chicken soup. One of my favorite stops was the champagne cupcakes. When you were ready to eat it there was a bonus little champagne treat to have in your cupcake.
We spent most of our evening eating, drinking, listening to Four Unplugged and socializing…
I really liked the new venue for the event and all of the new games they added like plinko. They always have interesting things to see at Celebration like diamond digs and more so this year they really went over the top with the games.
The food was great as was the music and the cause of course. I am hoping that next year the weather won’t even be an issue and they can again have Celebration in the Spring.
