I have only watched a handful of episodes of the very popular Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines. I really never got into the show, which makes me feel like I am in a minority, but I always liked them and their style. I was really excited when Target said they would be doing a line with the Magnolia Home owners in the late fall. I was assuming that this was going to be a full time line like Area 62 and Threshold so I was a little disappointed that it was only planned for a one time event.
My plan was to shop online but once it was released I felt like I needed to see it all in person. Pax decided to come with me and we drove to Target and met Abby there. We were the first people in line but were soon joined by a group of Chip and Joanna fans. Just like anything Target does the event was first class and well organized. They provided coffee and pastries for the attendees and also little Starbucks treats. They had lots of stock and were quickly restocking items when they were missing off of the shelf. There was one manager in particular who was as excited about the line as we were and he really made the morning fun.
I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to buy when I first arrived. Most of the items were holiday in theme and I wasn’t sure how they would fit into my existing décor. I quickly decided that the table wares were what I wanted to focus on. I already have Christmas china so I skipped past the place settings and went right to the centerpiece first. I had viewed it online and wanted it but it was sold out by 6 am. I was so glad to see that they had the gold in stock in the store. The table runner and napkins were also a must have as well as the set of the house salt and pepper shaker and some bud vases. I also picked up a few Christmas gifts for my mom.
Still on my list is the firewood holder and the tree collar and possibly some of the garland if it gets to the sale rack.
My overall thoughts are this… it was small but it was good. Great test run for the Gaines and for Target. I would not be sad to see them either do a quarterly seasonal line or a full time line. If they do this venture again I would appreciate seeing some furniture as I felt that was something major missing since the Gaines are known for their amazing furniture. Overall I would give the collaboration and A+.
