I had a clear vision from the beginning of what I wanted this shoot to look like. My initial inspiration was Kate Hudson from Almost Famous.

The Vintage Magazine
The idea for the magazine came to me after the shoot. While researching inspiration for another project, I stumbled across a collection of vintage Glamour magazines. As I flipped through them, it hit me—everything we shot had that same nostalgic, editorial feel, like it belonged on the pages of a magazine.
At first, I planned to create just a cover, but as I worked on it, it felt more authentic to go all in—with ads, articles, and, of course, a monthly horoscope. Because what’s a magazine without a horoscope?

Choosing the Right Photographer
For my 46th birthday, I knew I wanted to do something special—a full-on ‘70s-inspired photo shoot. The key to making a vision like this come to life is finding the right photographer, and for me, that was Katie Ostarly at Open Space Studios.
I had been following Katie’s work for a while, and I knew she would get my vibe better than anyone else. When choosing a photographer, it’s important to find someone who understands your theme and can bring your vision to life. Katie checked all the right boxes.
Green Flags When Booking
One thing that stood out immediately was Katie’s attention to detail. She didn’t just book the session and show up—she asked thoughtful, specific questions to ensure we were on the same page:
Location & Outfits – She wanted to know exactly what I had in mind, making sure the setting and wardrobe fit the aesthetic.
Mood Board – She asked for inspiration images so she could fully understand my vision and capture it authentically.
Props & Extras – She was proactive about asking if I planned to bring props or if there was anything she needed to provide.
By the time we walked into the studio, she already had ideas in mind, making the entire shoot feel effortless and fun. It was clear that she was invested in making sure every detail was perfect, and I appreciated how on top of everything she was.
A Creative Celebration
This was such a fun project to work on for myself. I love when I get to be fully creative and lean into an idea without any rules or guidelines. Bringing this vision to life reminded me how much I enjoy exploring new concepts and just having fun with the process.

Tiffany
