Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey and it often doesn’t have a clear and definitive end. I’ve worked for the better part of a decade on my relationship with my body. I’ve done a lot of work. I’ve honored her, encouraged her, I’ve chosen to see her as good. It’s been an intentional journey to really break down and know my body is good, just as it it.

But just when I think I have evolved past being critical of myself I go to try on swimsuits and boom I’m back. This past weekend I went to try on swimsuits. It was a last minute decision and I just popped in a store. I talked to an associate and realized she was picking things and putting them into a fitting room for me. I could feel my pulse starting to race. Initially I was frustrated with myself for feeling insecure about trying on suits but then I remembered that this is a journey. I politely told the sales associate that I just didn’t think I was ready to try on. In the kindest way she said, it’s fine, I’ll mark some things down and when you feel ready just come back.

I’m telling you this story because sometimes it’s easy to look at people who share their lives online and think they some how have mastered living themselves in a way that you can never achieve. The truth is that for many people it’s something we still struggle with from time to time.

Just remind yourself that like most things in life there is no medal for being the most secure person in the room. Give yourself grace and just repeat after me, my body is good just as it is.

Floating Witch Hat and Candle Tutorial

Halloween has always been one of my favorite times of the year, a season where creativity and imagination truly come to life. For me, decorating for Halloween isn’t just about putting up a few spooky decorations; it’s about transforming our home into a magical, eerie wonderland that delights everyone who walks through the door. When I first stumbled upon pictures of floating witch hats and candles online, I knew I had to bring that enchanting atmosphere into our home. The idea of having these mystical elements hovering in our space was too perfect to pass up. However, I couldn’t find a tutorial that walked me through the process, so I decided to create my own and share it with all of you.

Witch Hats – Tutorial

When I first started this project, my plan was to use monofilament line to hang the decorations. However, I quickly realized that the line wasn’t holding up as well as I’d hoped—the wind kept causing it to slip off the plastic hooks. To solve this, I switched to using beige upholstery thread, which provided much better stability.

For the hooks, I opted for these 3M Round Cord Clips. We used them both inside and outside the house, and they worked perfectly. Even three years later, they’re still securely in place.

As for the witch hats, you can easily buy them in bulk on Amazon.

Candles – Tutorial

We used the same 3M Round Cord Clips inside and outside the house. They’ve held up beautifully for three years, serving as hangers for keys last Halloween and even ornaments during Christmas.

For the floating candles, I recommend these candles. To hang them, I took a long piece of monofilament line and hot glued it to both sides of the top of the candle to create a loop. Since the candles are a bit heavy, centering the loop on the hook helps them hang straight. To avoid burning your fingers while hot gluing, I suggest applying a small amount of glue to one side of the candle and letting it cool for a few seconds. When it’s still warm but not too hot, press the monofilament line into the glue, let it set completely, and then repeat on the other side. Be sure to allow the hot glue to cure fully for 24 hours before hanging the candles.

Last year we hung these keys rather than doing the candles again. As you can tell we are very Harry Potter inspired in our Halloween decor.

Transforming your home into a Halloween wonderland doesn’t have to be complicated or costly. With a few simple materials and a little creativity, you can create a magical atmosphere that delights both kids and adults alike. The floating witch hats and candles have become a staple in our Halloween decor, bringing a touch of the supernatural to our home year after year. Whether you’re hosting a spooky party or just want to add some eerie elegance to your space, these DIY decorations are sure to impress. I hope this tutorial inspires you to get crafty and make your own Halloween magic. Happy decorating!

Keep it Spooky,

Tiffany
