If I were to make a list of must have, classic, always in style items for your closet, a shirt dress would be on that list. They are virtually perfect for any situation. Need a coverup? Date night? Meet the Teacher? They work with heels, sandals and boots. You can cover them up with a sweater or wear them on their own. They can literally meet all of your dressing needs.
Ok, I have to tell you. The day Rachel and I shot this it was at least 90 degrees, and the humidity was so high. I had to have her peel the jackets off as we changed each look. It was bad. Know that I love y’all because I wanted to get this out to y’all asap.
How to style a shirt dress
The best thing about a shirt dress is its versatility. They work for just about any occasion and any dress code. I wanted to show you a few different ways to style this dress I got from Old Navy.
On Its Own
Pretty self-explanatory and simple.
Belt
Another simple look. This is also great if you look a cinched waist.
Jacket
When layering a jean jacket is never going to steer you wrong. I got this one from Levis and it works really well. Also, if it’s still warm think about rolling the sleeves up.
Sweater
This is one of my new favorite ways to layer. I saw another blogger layering over her dresses like this last year and I loved it. Pro tip. I kept my belt on and tucked the front of my sweater into the band to give it a more cropped look. I think this LOFT sweater would be perfect.
Cardigan
Short, cropped, boyfriend fit cardigans are going to be big this season. This would also look cute with a long cardigan too.
Vest
This is going to give you that fall look without the sleeves. I also love that you can see the puff sleeve on this.
Blazer
Always one of my go-to looks. This blazer in particular just works with the caramel color of the dress.
As always, I want to encourage you to try something new. Even if it doesn’t feel like it is going to be your thing.
XO,
Tiffany
