Summer Break is done for the kids and for me. The last 75+ days where have I been? I decided this summer that I was taking it easy on myself with the blog. With the exception of updating a few old blog posts, thank you evergreen content, I have not written anything new in two months. There are a few reasons.
First, in the past I have not given myself a break until I absolutely needed on. If you are a creative person you know what kind of fatigue I am talking about. I decided to give myself a break. I gave myself permission to rest creatively.
Second, I had some new projects I needed to focus on. There is something exciting Justin and I have been working on plus my part time job at Pelican Athletic club. I knew there was no way to give everything to those two projects plus be with the kids.
Trend Alert
Breaks are great. I was excited to get back to writing this morning. I have a long list of ideas to share with you all one of which is this new series, Trend Alert. I had been thinking about writing this for a while but the summer off gave me time to plan how I wanted this series to play out.
I love trends but I know not everyone does. They can be hard to navigate with how they work within your existing wardrobe. I wanted to take trends and dissect them for you. What worked, what doesn’t and if I think it is worth trying. Basically I am going to try it out so you don’t have to.
P.S. Trends never really die, they just hibernate.
Ankle Tie Pants
Joggers gained a lot of popularity last year with the increase with everyone wearing loungewear for everything. Like most trends they can become elevated so you can wear them in other aspects of your life. The ankle tie pants are an elevated version of the jogger we have all come to love.

What I thought
I like them. I think it is cute to have an added little accessory on your pants. It adds dimension and is visually interesting.
What I didn’t like. I am not overly tall at 5’4″ so I did find them to be a bit long on me. Most pants are made for 5’6″ to 5’8″ so they did bunch somewhat at the bottom. If you have an excellent tailor it is no issues because you can run in and get them hemmed. The only other issue I found was they covered my shoes and as a shoe girl that made me a little sad.
Check out these picks
This trend may not be for you and that is ok! The thing with fashion is that it should be fun and exciting. Every now and then you should try something out of your comfort zone. Change is awesome and a great excuse to push yourself out of a rut! Try it and see what you think.

Tiffany
