Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey and it often doesn’t have a clear and definitive end. I’ve worked for the better part of a decade on my relationship with my body. I’ve done a lot of work. I’ve honored her, encouraged her, I’ve chosen to see her as good. It’s been an intentional journey to really break down and know my body is good, just as it it.

But just when I think I have evolved past being critical of myself I go to try on swimsuits and boom I’m back. This past weekend I went to try on swimsuits. It was a last minute decision and I just popped in a store. I talked to an associate and realized she was picking things and putting them into a fitting room for me. I could feel my pulse starting to race. Initially I was frustrated with myself for feeling insecure about trying on suits but then I remembered that this is a journey. I politely told the sales associate that I just didn’t think I was ready to try on. In the kindest way she said, it’s fine, I’ll mark some things down and when you feel ready just come back.

I’m telling you this story because sometimes it’s easy to look at people who share their lives online and think they some how have mastered living themselves in a way that you can never achieve. The truth is that for many people it’s something we still struggle with from time to time.

Just remind yourself that like most things in life there is no medal for being the most secure person in the room. Give yourself grace and just repeat after me, my body is good just as it is.

5 White Items You Should Try This Fall

No White After Labor Day used to be the rule of the fall. But rules are meant to be broken and I am giving you five white items you should try this fall.

No white after labor day was a rule that I stuck to for the longest time. I am not sure why it was so hard for me to break. Maybe it’s because deep down in my soul I am a southern belle and that just seemed like a southern tradition I couldn’t turn my back on.

I love the way that white looks. It is a beautiful color and just looks so good with the deep colors of fall and winter. I am lining up five white trends you should entertain this fall.

Shoes

White booties have been a big trend for the last few fall and winter seasons. These will easily work with jeans and dresses.  Think how beautiful this would be with a deep burnt orange skirt or cropped jean.  Booties are coming in a variety of whites so if you can’t commit to the bright white trend look for something in a milk or ivory color.

I also added a pair of white mules because they are my go to fall shoe and I am adding some white heels to my collection this season too.

Bags

White handbags are the perfect pop against deep fall and winter colors. I love these bags for all occasions.

Jeans

White Jeans are probably the most staple white piece in anyone’s wardrobe.  We all grab a pair in the spring but there is seldom a long enough spring to get to wear the before it’s 100 degrees outside.  Adding your white jeans to your fall line up will give you more chances to wear them so invest in a good pair!

I linked these Good American Jeans because they come in regular and plus sizes.

Jackets

Jackets are always a fall favorite.  This season I am seeing a lot of blazers and moto jackets.  If you are looking to invest in a jacket but want something you can wear with a variety of outfits white could be the way to go.  It’s definitely a color that is going to look sharp next to the bold colors of fall.

Dresses

White dresses are perfect for fall with a denim jacket thrown over or they also make the most perfect sweater dresses.
