Admittedly I am not a watch girl. Which is funny because my husband, Justin, is a watch guy. Like seriously. He is addicted to mens watches. I had to consult with him on how to get the perfect watch shot when I was planning this piece.
When JORD watches asked me to work with them I hesitated. I haven’t worn a watch in years but the samples they sent me were so pretty I thought I could be convinced… and then my eyes fell on this plum beauty. What I didn’t know at the time, pun intended, is that JORD watches are the premier designer in wooden watches.
I like color so it would make sense that if I was going to pick out a watch to wear it would be in color. What I didn’t realize when I picked out this timepiece is that the wood isn’t dyed purple. Purple is the woods natural color. This particular watch is made from Purpleheart wood which is found in the Solomon Islands. Purpleheart wood can be difficult to cut making it the perfect medium for long term wear on a wood time piece.
Why this watch?
As soon as I put this watch on I could tell there was a difference from watches I had purchased in the past. I have never owned anything more than a costume jewelry watch so there was an obvious difference in the quality.
When I was ordering my watch the first thing they asked me was what size my wrist was. They didn’t just take out the links. They made sure that this watch was custom fit for my wrist. Because the watch was fitted to my wrist it didn’t slide and move. Also, because the watch is made from wood it was light and soft. It has a completely different feeling than a metal or leather band watches.
So, Am I A Watch Girl Now?
The short answer is yes. I think I was a watch girl all along I just didn’t have the right one!
XO,
Tippy
