First kid in high school with Peyton entering 9th grade. It’s also his first time back in the public school system since 4th grade. I won’t say he loves it (we have not been blessed with kids who like school) but he is doing amazing and gives me scores daily on the cafeteria food.

Pax joined the football team which is a first for him. He started last week as the corner back. Fun fact that is not the same thing as a quarterback and I’m still unsure if he’s on offense or defense but we yell really loud anyway.

Porter started playing trumpet this summer and joined the band at school for the first time. He also had his third music recital but first time as a piano player. We love getting to hear him play as loud and painful as it is to hear an off key trumpet blaring in your house he is getting better by the day.

As for Justin and I this is our first time really acknowledging we are on the downward side of the mountain when it comes to this parenting thing. Realizing your kid will be bound for something new and very grown up in 4 years is taking me some getting used to. We are excited to join the booster club for the football team and help with football dinners before games. We are also getting out daily steps in as we know we will be marching in parades with the band in just a few short years.

I’ll end this with the words of Ferris Buller himself, “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

By college we were having real conversations about ethics, libel, and what it meant to publish something online. The rules came later and they came hard for the people who were not paying attention.

We are in that exact same moment right now with AI.

Earlier this year two New Orleans city attorneys resigned after using ChatGPT on a federal court filing. Nine case citations were completely fabricated. A federal judge sanctioned both of them. Both resigned. (Information per WWLTV and WDSUTV)

This happened here. In our city.

The guardrails are not in place yet. That means your judgment is the only protection you have right now. Think before you put something into AI. Think harder before you use what comes out.

Some things should never go into an AI platform. Client data. Confidential business information. Legal documents. Financial records. Anything private.

If you work in a regulated industry the policies are coming for you first. And if your employer does not have an AI protocol yet that is not a green light. That is a gap.

I use AI every single day. I believe in it. But just because no one has told you not to yet does not mean it is not coming.

The attorneys in New Orleans did not think it would come back on them either.

Setting Your Thanksgiving Table

Thanksgiving is less than a week away and I am ready for family and food.  Thanksgiving feels easier to me than Christmas since there aren’t as many events leading up to it.  It makes me feel relaxed and calm. I…

What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

There is something really beautiful to me about the time between Halloween and Christmas.  The temps are mild and the colors are vibrant and the mosquitos usually aren’t biting any more.  Plus there is Thanksgiving. There is something special to…
