The official start of the summer season is this weekend but here in the south we are well into the summer heat and humidity. Although I am typically a dress girl I find myself wearing shorts more and more. Today I am going to round up 4 styles of shorts you need this summer.
This summer I am finding myself reaching for shorts as my go to. Shorts can be great for comfortable, casual outfits but they also work really well for dressed up looks too. If you live in the south like me you know that shorts will work in your wardrobe from now until October.

Paperbag Waist
I have always been partial to a paperbag waist even when it wasn’t in style. They are visually interesting which is what fashion is all about. They also add this little touch of style to a shorts and top outfit that in itself could be a little mundane. For a fashion forward piece they are comfortable to wear, which is not always the case when it comes to fashionable things, and they always look great when you tuck your shirt into them. Paperbag waist was made for the crop top moment we are having. Especially if you are someone who is not all in on the crop top trend these are the shorts for you.
Jean Shorts
Jean shorts are a wardrobe staple. Even when they aren’t “in style” they are still wearable. The fits, lengths and washes will vary over the years but a jean short is always something you can wear. Bonus they can also be changed to fit a seasonal trend. I have taken my jeans shorts from prior seasons and tweaked them by changing the wash with dye, adding distressing to them or even cutting them to fit a new length. Jean shorts may be casual but they are still classic. Learn more about jeans here.
Pull on Shorts
2020 made me throw in the towel on shorts with buttons. I mean why do we need them? I know you are going to say well you just talked about jean shorts above and that is true. Jeans are my one exception. I like the way pull on shorts fit. I like that it is a cleaner look across the front. I like that my shirts can be worn tucked in or out but most of all I love that there is no button poking in my stomach when I sit down.
I rounded up shorts that are cute and comfortable but also some dressy options. In the past one of the complaints that I have heard about pull on shorts is that they look too casual but no more.
Bike Shorts
So I know not everyone is on this trend but I personally love it. Athletic shorts are not something I usually purchase but bike shorts I feel like work for athletic need bus also casual outfits. I have even seen some, like the faux leather shorts I included in this round up, that will work for dressier occasions. Always try something on your body before you decide it isn’t for you.

Tiffany
