One week out from hosting Justin’s 50th birthday d One week out from hosting Justin’s 50th birthday dinner and emceeing Hammers & Heels, so today officially kicked off my beauty marathon.

Started with a facial at The Ritual Co., and yes, I’m here for the glow… but honestly, the real win was an uninterrupted hour to sit still, be taken care of, and fully relax.
Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey Learning to love your body isn’t a linear journey and it often doesn’t have a clear and definitive end. I’ve worked for the better part of a decade on my relationship with my body. I’ve done a lot of work. I’ve honored her, encouraged her, I’ve chosen to see her as good. It’s been an intentional journey to really break down and know my body is good, just as it it.

But just when I think I have evolved past being critical of myself I go to try on swimsuits and boom I’m back. This past weekend I went to try on swimsuits. It was a last minute decision and I just popped in a store. I talked to an associate and realized she was picking things and putting them into a fitting room for me. I could feel my pulse starting to race. Initially I was frustrated with myself for feeling insecure about trying on suits but then I remembered that this is a journey. I politely told the sales associate that I just didn’t think I was ready to try on. In the kindest way she said, it’s fine, I’ll mark some things down and when you feel ready just come back.

I’m telling you this story because sometimes it’s easy to look at people who share their lives online and think they some how have mastered living themselves in a way that you can never achieve. The truth is that for many people it’s something we still struggle with from time to time.

Just remind yourself that like most things in life there is no medal for being the most secure person in the room. Give yourself grace and just repeat after me, my body is good just as it is.

Polo Preppy, Hot Summer Nights and a Giveaway

Last night was the Patron Party for the Junior League’s Harvest Cup Polo Classic and the official start of the event countdown.  Shortly we will be burying the bourbon, I’ll explain later, and in a little over a month we will be hosting the actual polo event.

HCPC is one of my favorite events each fall.  There is just something that feels decadent about it from the white tents to the green grass and everyone dressed in their best with all the ladies in hats…  It’s just everything.  For the past several years I have been on the organizing committee and have found myself busy for the day.  This year I took a step back and I am going to be able to really enjoy polo and all if has to offer.  Because of this I will have several amazing posts leading up to the event.

The first post being all about Patron Party and…  to introduce our giveaway!  Yes!  I said Giveaway!  The winner will receive one complimentary ticket to Harvest Cup Polo Classic (10/8/17), a beautiful fascinator from We Five Kings,  The Mandeville Murfee Scarf from Palm Village Mandeville – A Lilly Pulitzer Store and a pair of Fringe Tassel Earrings from Golden Lily.

To enter the contest follow these instructions…

  1. Follow Harvest Cup Polo Classic, We Five Kings, Golden Lily and Palm Village Mandeville – A Lilly Pulitzer Store on Facebook.
  2. Tag three people in the giveaway post on Facebook.
  3. Bonus entry for following all four pages on Instagram.
  4. Share because you love this giveaway and because you don’t want your friends to miss out!

Contest will run from 8/28/17 to 9/7/17 and we will draw the winner on Facebook Live at the Bourbon Burial September 8, 2017 at noon.

So about last nights look…  I found this dress at TJ Maxx several weeks ago when I was shopping with Abby.  The dress for Patron Party was listed as Polo Preppy and I had a million thoughts on what I was going to wear.  When I saw this dress it reminded me so much of the event that I knew it was perfect.  The green is so bright and the floral pattern was bold but muted and then the fabric was dreamy.  It made me feel pretty and fun.  I paired it with rose gold jewelry because I just felt like it accented the green the best.  Also, these shoes are probably the best purchase I made all spring.  They are comfortable and the shade of nude matches everything that I have.  I can also walk a mile in them, seriously.

Ok so lets talk about last nights event.  It was glamorous as I knew it would be.  Elizabeth Westervelt, the HCPC Chair, is as southern and ladylike as they come.  She not only knows how to plan an event but she knows how to throw a party.  First off let’s talk about this house she hosted the party at…

Food and drinks abounded and were provided by The Lake House and dessert by Nothing Bundt Cakes.  The Lake House is one of my favorite Northshore restaurants and their menu did not disappoint tonight.  I think the highlight had to be the Blackened Shrimp Cheesecake.  Also, I will just admit that I broke my diet for the bread pudding and Nothing Bundt Cakes Funfetti cake.

Even more importantly…  The Veuve Clicquot flowed!  Tonight they were pre-selling bottles so that yours would be chilled the day of Polo.

The whole evening was special and a wonderful way to honor all of the sponsors that invest in this event.  Also, to kick off the Lee Michaels Rolex Raffle!

So get on Facebook and Instagram and enter our giveaway!  Don’t miss out!  Also, check back for our other posts on suggestions on what to wear to Polo and then the recap of HCPC day!

XO,

Tippy
